The smart way is to prevent yourself from being duped. According to police reports, there is around 20 percent increment in cyber crime against women and a significant subset of it are crimes performed on matrimony websites. The nature of these crimes include duping money after making fake promises of marriage, personal information hacking, blackmailing with morphed photos, sexual crimes, stealing financial (credit/debit card) details and more. Many of these crimes go unreported because of societal pressure on women.
The best possible protection is to avoid being cheated. The government has issued mandate asking matrimony websites to check and verify profiles before accepting to their sites. It has even urged to make Aadhar Card details mandatory for members signing up for the service.
Trust only the websites with proven track records. If you are looking for alliance from a particular community check with websites that caters to the niche. Chances are they have only selected and authentic profiles.
